Hi, I'm Susan, and this is how my journey began...
As a child, I was the kid who reached for the bright, silly book. I liked reading the ones that made you laugh out loud but always carried a quiet lesson underneath. I fell in love with stories by Judy Blume, Beverly Cleary, and Francine Pascal. Their books felt honest, playful, and full of heart.
As I grew into my teen years, my bookshelf changed. The stories became darker, more suspenseful, and a little more unsettling. I found myself drawn to the eerie twists of R.L. Stine, the haunting intensity of V.C. Andrews, and the chilling, unforgettable worlds created by Stephen King.
Somewhere between those two shelves, I realized I didn’t have to choose between light and dark—I could write both!
Today, I create children’s books that reflect the warmth and meaning I loved as a kid, the stories that help young readers build confidence, feel seen, and embrace exactly who they are. At the same time, I explore the darker side of storytelling through psychological thrillers, where I dive into the complexities of identity, obsession, and the hidden truths people carry.
It may seem like two very different worlds, but to me, they’re deeply connected. Both ask the same question in different ways: who are we, really?
Through school visits, community events, and connecting with readers of all ages, I love sharing stories that spark something—whether it’s confidence, curiosity, or that chill of a story that keeps
you up just a little too late.
Because whether it’s light or dark, funny or unsettling, the best stories are the ones that stay with you long after the final page.
